You can watch the Rubber Room episode here. The references to the rubber rooms start about 27 minutes in. It seems (to me) they do a credible job explaining how draconian this whole process.

I saw it--my one and only Law and Order even though a lot of them were filmed on the campus of the college I work at. I thought it was great.
I'm only surprised no rubber room teacher has actually gone that crazy.
