For all my friends in New York:

Congratulations on Joel Klein retiring. I hope the next person is not so destructive to the school system.

Well, unfortunately Mikey has already picked a successor, Cathy Black, chairman of Hearst Magazines. Yes, that is correct; she has no education experience and needs to get a waiver from the New York State Education Commissioner.

I've actually been holding back on posting about our Fearless Leader, Ron Huberman, leaving at the end of the month. We couldn't be happier, although we are nervous about who will be filling the position. The last 4 people had absolutely NO educational background. It'll be interesting.

When our mayor announced he'd be retiring at the end of his term, Huberman said then that he wouldn't work for any other mayor, but that he wasn't going anywhere until Daley left. Then, last week, in a surprise announcement, he said he was leaving at the end of the month. I'm surprised you didn't hear our screams of joy all the way over there!!!
