Six Word Saturday
Not burned out but getting toasty.

We cannot afford (as a district) to have math books, but we can afford calculators.
We cannot afford workbooks for the kids (so the teachers get to copy work for them every single day) but we can afford to buy literature books for the math department to teach reading in addition to the too-much-and-not-integrated-standards that the kids cannot find a cohesive whole to.
Oy vey!

wow! i'm always amazed at what schools can do.
It is amazing what they decide is a priority but what is really needed for teaching.
betty
And I bet there is plenty of money for know nothing supervisors to walk around and tell you what you are doing wrong.
Yeah, what POd said!
I love when they say there's no money for workbooks, but then they turn around and waste probably even MORE money by having teachers copy the damn pages!
The way budgets work is ridiculous! Thanks for sharing your Six Words.
Sometimes you really wonder....who is calling the shots, and maybe that question needs to come to light....the children and their needs should come above all....our schools have asked for many parent volunteers for lots of things they used to pay someone for. It helps!
