Lose or Loose?

I am taking a class. The professor repeatedly misuses the word lose. (A friend said I should tell her - uh-uh - too entertaining.)

Just found a letter she wrote on line "The school District stands to loose thousands of dollars if changes are made." Yep, that is how she uses it all the time.

I have several but, really, she is teaching a GRADUATE LEVEL COURSE and has been in education for more than 20 years AND IS CERTIFIED IN ENGLISH and can't use the right word?

Does she ask her students if their ready to sit they're and finish there work? ;-)

(sorry, I couldn't resist. I'm feeling a bit snarky this morning, I guess)

No, but she has made many comments about how we are professionals and need to use spellcheck (not) and use the correct word.

I doubt my co-students have noticed (I have seen it at least 4 times) and I am not about to bring it to her attention.
