At my last school it was 32-33, though by contract it was supposed to be no more than 30. I've taught at schools where 40-45 was the norm for math.
My current school (please G-d let me stay here forever!) gives me class sizes of low to mid teens. (Smallest is 11 right now. Largest is 16. And the kids bring their stuff and try!)
I teach in LAUSD and am at a QEIA school (Quality Education Investment Act). This gives us Title 1 money that is ONLY allowed to be used to keep class sizes down.
My Expos Comp and American Lit courses range from 24-27. They can't go over 27 with QEIA. Boy are we screwed when that money ends which we hear will be the year after next.

7.6 is my average classroom. (I really enjoy teaching at an alternative school!) ;-)
